Plastic Waste Management Project

Plastics bring many benefits. At the same time, there are some problematic items on the market that need to be eliminated to achieve a circular economy approach. With a greater focus on managing the problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging through redesign, innovation, and new delivery models is a priority with stakeholders in the plastic fraternity.

Odisha Development Management Programme (ODMP) is implementing a project on Plastic Waste Management to minimize negative impacts and risks to environment (stop littering) and to the citizen’s health. This can be made effective by enhancing sustainable Waste Management practices, through an integrated, holistic model (segregation, collection, optimizing transportation and sustainable recovery, sustainable recycling, refurbishing and repair, reuse circular economy approaches). The project promotes a more integrated approach for maximizing materials use efficiency across the plastics waste to encourage a sustainable, and a safe environment and provides sustainable solutions to waste management.

Paper Waste Management Project

Paper waste management is a critical aspect of environmental sustainability and waste reduction efforts . Odisha Development Management Programme (ODMP) is implementing a project on Paper Waste Management which encompasses the systematic handling, reduction, reuse, recycling, and proper disposal of paper waste to minimize its environmental impact and promote sustainability. It involves a series of strategies and practices aimed at managing the entire lifecycle of paper materials, from production and consumption to disposal.

The project promotes paper waste management through collecting, sorting, and processing discarded paper materials to manufacture new products. Instead of sending paper waste to landfills or incinerators, recycling allows the recovery of valuable paper fibers to be used in the production of recycled paper. The recycling technology are used to create paper from waste paper, school stationary, cotton rags, denim cuttings, etc. The final products that are made using recycled paper include certificates, stationary box, gift items, folders, cards, envelopes, visiting cards, pen stands, bags and lampshade. The project offers numerous environmental benefits, including conserving natural resources, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. By closing the loop on paper production and consumption, recycling contributes to a more sustainable and circular economy.
